Game Log 2: Play

Welcome back to DevLog 2.

This devlog discusses how we came to the conclusion through the choice of game, what happened during the game expert council, and the methods we have used for this.

While coming to the conclusion of the game, we used a lot of Post-it notes and a wall to express our ideas and move them about. Discuss the values and different ideas. At some point, we hit a wall and a communication hurdle. So we set about taking 15 minutes to research the person's idea and then present to the rest of the group. This helped greatly as we were able to explain what was going on in each of our heads.

After this, we were able to bring together a pitch for the expert council. Tom introduced it with a story-based aspect to try to hook the audience in (it worked). Then Joachim talked about the game's gameplay aspect, how the gameplay loop would work, and how the player interaction with the game would go. Eureka followed up by discussing the game further and answering some of the questions. In the end, the expert council gave us positive feedback. This feedback related to making sure the game wasn't boring and making it controversial to get a reaction out of the play. The poster we used to describe the game can be seen in the images.

This led us to work out a solid gameplay loop so we were further able to develop the game. Just before wrapping up the first day, we started splitting up the work to create the game. This gameplay loop can be seen in one of the pictures.
